Building Materials: Aluminium Sections

As we now need to stock larger quantities of aluminium section we enjoy the benefits of bulk purchasing. Many of the smaller sections are not readily available in small quantities to the model builder without incurring huge carriage costs and minimum purchase limits.
We are able to share the benefits of our bulk purchasing with those model railway builders who wish to attempt their own bridge structures.
Our prices are highly competitive even in comparison to Ebay suppliers. The standard length supplied is 1 metre however we can also supply full lengths of 2.0 metres or 2.5 metres as supplied to us. Carriage charge for 1 metre lengths is a standard amount of £4.50 up to 2kg and £5.85 up to 5kg. For the full lengths carriage will be arranged on an individual parcel basis.

  Quality Aluminium

The aluminium we use in our own structures and which we supply here is commonly used in the manufacture of furniture, windows, stair-rails and assorted trim items.
It has an excellent finish although will generally have some random surface grazing. Most important however is that it has a high degree of resistance to corrosion.

  T Section 1in x 1in x 1/8th in.

Size: 25.4mm x 25.4mm x 3.18mm

Ideal main beams for garden railway bridges. Linked by cross beams, these T Sections can be used wihout additional structural members up to 1000mm length. For a simple, economical and fairly rigid bridge deck use these beams with a central timber deck.

 Angle L Section 3/8in x 3/8in x 1/16th in.

Size: 9.53mm x 9.53mm x 1.59mm

A small equal angle section suitable for diagonal bracing or supporting corners. It can also be used to reinforce the sheet sides of plate girder bridges. We find this is an ideal size to use as parapet posts. As this minimal size is not as widely available as the larger sections the price reflects this.
