This is a highly attractive design to include in your railway. It follows a similar construction style to our Pony Truss bridge. However it has a distinct difference which gives it a character of its own and will add further interest and variety to your line.
Examples of this and its counterpart, the inverted bowstring bridge, can still be seen along the line of the Penrith, Keswick and Cockermouth Railway. Although a standard gauge branchline, the track crossed the River Greta eight times using both upright and inverted examples of bowstring bridges. The side structures consist of an arched beam, sloping downwards section by section to each end. Vertical and diagonal members support the beam. All sections are of 12mm x 12mm aluminium square section connected by 1.5mm plates rivetted with 2.4 mm blind rivets. The main deck and side structures are supported on sturdy 25mm x 25mm 'T' section beams. PRICES:
