Our Arched Girder structure offers a slightly different configuration to the Pony Truss and Bowstring designs. In effect it is similar in most aspects to the Pony Truss apart from the obvious gently arched top girder on each of the side elevations. We have kept the maximum height to around 150mm which is roughly shoulder height for most rolling stock.
The bridge is carefully constructed in a range of aluminium sections The design follows full size practice based on the Pratt Truss configuration invented in 1844 with vertical members and diagonal sections that slope towards the centre. This is a sturdy construction offering a more substantial side structure than the Bowstring but retaining its gently curved appearance. It is well capable of carrying heavy locos over a full metre span. The Arched Girder Bridge would be very much at home in most garden railways. PRICES:
